New College Courses for 2011

Rick and I were talking about some new college courses coming to a college curriculum near you. From, "Oh, Look! A Chicken!" to "Sociology of Fame and Lady Gaga," you'll enjoy the read, friends. It kind of makes you want to go back to school (for $15,000 a year...)

Friday Film...um... discussion

According to this article, George Lucas says that 3-D film will be the next big thing... like no one tried it before. But, this time he thinks it will work.

Really, George?

You think people are going to want to wear those silly glasses? Even if the "new 3D" has nothing to do with the glasses, but more with the way the film is formatted, don't you think people's vision will be affected in the long run?

Besides, I have no interest in seeing you destroy the Star Wars Trilogy (and I still believe there are only three) with remaking them in to 3-D. Give it a rest, Georgey. Just because Star Wars was one of the best things you put on film, doesn't mean you have the right to beat it in to the ground.

Someone should have told you that when you cast Hayden Christensen.

Monday Moan: Am I Ready?

I'm a knitter. You know that by now. I just started a blog about my knitting adventures, actually - don't get too excited, friends, only one post so far, but lately a friend of mine has been insistent that I start an Etsy store, as she has. She has been incredibly successful since opening her store in the fall, and she thinks that I should make a go of it.

"So, what's the problem?" you're probably thinking. "Open the store and see how it goes!"

But in the back of my mind, the nay sayer is ever present:

"What if no one likes your stuff?"

"What if nothing sells?"

"What if people end up posting your stuff on Regretsy and you look like a fool?"

After I'm done crying about it, the yes-man in me says:

"You like knitting, you may as well see if you can do something with it!"

"People have complimented you on your knitting before!"

"You let your friend post one of your creations on her Etsy account and it sold in less than 24 hours!"

Then I'm smiling again.

Oh, what to do? What to do?

Any advice?

Random Idiot Thursday: James C. McKinley Jr.

HOW DARE someone ever accuse an 11-year-old girl for being in the wrong when SHE was gang raped by 18 men.

There's a special place in hell for people like James C. McKinley Jr. This article infuriates me.

How can you possibly say, "These boys are going to have to live with this for the rest of their lives," like they are somehow a victim?

Tuesday News Day: The Library of the Future

With the Geeks having visited us today, I thought this article appropriate. Like all those old Looney Tunes cartoons depicting the car of the future, or the house of the future, I give you the library of the future.

Random Idiot Thursday: Us... We Really need to give the Animal Kingdom more Credit

As humans, we think we are the smartest beings on earth. Of course, we applaud the noble ape for their attempts at using tools, and we praise the majestic whale for the eerie songs they sing... but we should really stop condescending to the animal kingdom. According to Cracked.com, and this crazy story, Alfred Hitchcock may have not been completely off base using birds as an enemy. Read and be very, very scared.
